Return of the Jedi Era Baggies
ROTJ-b – this baggie is being excluded from the guide & it’s one that does not actually exist as shown on the SWCA guide, the one shown on there turned out to be a one of a kind & can most likely be put down to either a print press error or wear to the font with the R.O.C not showing like it should, so the one shown on there is just a ROTJ-h.
Sadly the most faked baggie on the planet due to the availability of cheap removable limbs C-3P0’s in this baggie type (see fakes section) also identical font to the ESB-c Small text version, just a totally different colour font, Crisp/Taped.
There are 2 distinct font colourations on the ROTJ-c baggie, these should ideally really be two different baggie classifications in all honesty, but at this late date in the game I’m not messing with Kenner classifications any further unless I really have to, there’s a grey/blue version. See large image above for the comparison of the 2 font colours.
Oddly enough more ROTJ-j baggies (in terms of figure types found ) have been found in the UK compared to the US, please note that new classifications have been allotted for the Palitoy version since writing this (see Palitoy baggies).
Please also note that although these are classified as a ROTJ era baggie type, it has since been proven that an early issued SW era figure specifically the Boba Fett were issued in the exact same baggie type in the earlier examples of the single fett mailer, I know this makes for some confusion, but the baggie material & heat seals are identical, the font type & size are also identical, the only difference worthy of note to distinguish between them is the actual ink, both look identical, but the later issued type (Han Trench Coat) does not suffer with the font wearing out like the earlier issued boba fetts.
All the palitoy issued baggies with the same font style confirm to the ROTJ era Kenner issued Han trench Coats in terms of the font wearing issue, suggesting these were later issued baggies like the ROTJ-j.
This makes classifying the earlier issued mailer fetts under a different classification presumptuous & of little sense, but it does make it a little confusing if you are not a die hard baggie focus collector, having a SW issued baggie type under a ROTJ era classification, but think of it in terms of this – many SW era figures can be found in ESB or even ROTJ era baggies, it’s not ideal, but the best one can make of a rather obscure & awkward situation.
Salacious Crumb is like an ROTJ-J and previously classed as one., but this will need to be addressed later on.
I have had to make a new classification for this Kenner issue baggie as although it is shown on the SWCA guide in the rarity section, it has not been given a classification on that guide, so this is a new baggie classification.
